First and Final Profession

Called to love and serve called to serve
Today, on May 24, the Feast of Mary Help of Christians was truly a grace – filled day for all of us as Sr. Ramya PHJC made her Perpetual Profession of Vows: Chastity, Poverty and Obedience in the Congregation of the Poor Handmaids Jesus Christ during the solemn liturgy presided by Rt. Rev. Dr. Bernard Moras the Archbishop of Bangalore.

During the same celebration five (5) Novices: Anu John, Pavithra Arulappa, Promila Jate, Sumathi Kumar and Sanjukta Lakra professed their first vows of Chastity, Poverty and Obedience.

The vows were accepted by Sr. Flora PHJC Provincial Superior of PHJC Sisters, Seva Nilaya, St. Mary’s Province, Bangalore. The ceremony was held at Seva Nilaya Chapel, 38/4 Davis Road, and Cooke town and was witnessed by PHJCs coming from different communities, religious sisters, families and friends of the professed.

In his homily the presider said that based on the readings (Sirach 12: 2-6) one must be ready to face inconveniences and challenges to live consecrated life witnessing Jesus. He encouraged the would be professed to be Spirit-filled and Spirit-led religious abstaining from all that distract in their pursuit of holiness.

A short felicitation and Agape meal followed after the holy Eucharist. We congratulate our Sisters and assure them of our prayers to find joy and fulfillment as they give themselves to the service of God and His Church in the Congregation of the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ.
