11.09.2021: We had the first superiors meeting on virtual mode on 11th September 2021. The meeting began at 9.00 a.m., with the cordial welcoming of the participants by Sr. Josephin, the Provincial Superior. Prayers led by Sr. Gladys, the novices and aspirants invited the presence of God and elevated us to the spirit of prayer.

27.09.2021: We had a privilege to welcome Sr. Pragasamary, the General Procurator and Secretory in Bangalore. Sister spent two days with us meanwhile she visited Seva Nilaya and Katherine Nivas communities, Novitiate house and St. Mary’s Study House. Sr. Pragasamary met Sr. Josephin, Sr. Alphonsa and Sr. Dhanya and discussed about finance matters and need of concerned persons involvement.

27.12.2021: Religious call is a call to be present among God’s people in a helping way, simply and unassumingly meeting their needs in the spirit of a servant or of a handmaid. It is to live daily Mary’s response, “Behold the handmaid of the Lord. Let what you have said be done to me.” We had a grace-filled day with the blessings of making four of our sisters their Final Profession.

Skill training - 13th August: Under the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign, the central government has urged people to hoist the tricolour in their homes from August 13 to 15 to participate in the celebration of 75 years of India's Independence – Amrit Mahotsav. Ashalaya Skill training centres, on 13th August, in the presence of Project Manager Sr. Sushma Sebastian, Director Sr. Bindu Jose and have opened the Har Ghar Tiranga.

July 10th 2022: Sr. Johnsia PHJC, at the age of 82 passed into eternity after a prolonged illness. Sister was a nurse, vocation promotor and rendered pastoral care to the people in her many years of selfless service. She was a devoted, faithful, committed and simple and loving sister among us. She had a peaceful death surrounded by the PHJC sisters of the community at Maria Bhawan convent, Pravithanam. Dear Sister, we miss you and may God grant you eternal bliss.

Golden Jubilee Celebration of Sr. Borgia PHJC: The PHJC Sisters of St. Mary’s Province, Bangalore hosted the golden jubilee celebration of Sr. Borgia at Maria Bhavan Convent Kenichira on 10th September, 2022. October 9th to 12th: Sr. Stella and the Leadership Team visited our Province. The leadership group of North and South had been to Visa Office to apply for Visa in Bangalore. We spend a quality time together, praying, sharing, exchanging views especially on structural changes of the congregation. We had a happy and meaningful time together.

October the Rosary month: We honour our dear Mother of Lord, during the month of Rosary in October. Special prayers, and devotions are held while we pray rosary unceasingly in our chapels, families and communities.

November 25th 2021: Sr. Roshni, the Provincial Councilor along with Sr. Silvia joined the inauguration and blessing of the Novitiate house in St. Joseph’s Province at Tillore, M. P. Sr. Roshni had the first visit to the North mission in her life time. She is grateful to the Leadership Team in the South for permitting her to visit North and the leadership team in the North Province along with all the communities of M.P. area for their cordial welcome and happy stay in the province.

December 25th the Nativity of our Lord: We had the Christmas celebration along with our support staff. We also distributed festive meal to around 200 needy people and celebrated the Christmas with them.

North East Mission: The St. Mary’s Province have begun the North East Mission in Imphal, Itanagar Arunachal Pradesh and Thayong in Manipur. We collaborate and work with SDB mission in both the places. We render education and pastoral ministry in these missions and the faith formation is also focused in these missions. We do hold the open doors to promote vocation from the faith rich parishes of both missions.

Sad Demise of Sr. Roseline Kanjirathinkel PHJC
Our beloved Sr. Roseline Kanjirathinkel, PHJC reached her eternal abode leaving in our hearts an irreplaceable vacuum. She was diagnosed with the last stage of breast cancer in August 2019. Covid Relief Work by PHJC Sisters in Sebastiarpuram, Tamil Nadus
PHJC Sisters have been serving in Sebastiarpuram and nearby villages from 1990. It is located in Pattukkottai Tehsil of Thanjavur district in Tamil Nadu. The people of these villages are daily wage workers, fisher folk, self-employed or in casual work, and earning low incomes. The lockdown has simply worsened the misery of these poor people.

Promise ceremony on 1st September 2019
At 7am on 1st September 2019, the fourth group of associate candidates made their promise. Mrs Amita Sima,Mrs Ann Priya Pinto,Mrs Dolly Veronica and Mrs Gila Pereira were privileged to become associate members of the PHJC community, Bangalore.

Golden and Silver Jubilee Celebration
On the 30th May 2019, Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ celebrated the golden jubilee of the religious profession of Sr. Viannis and the silver jubilees of Srs. Annual Retreat
As per our Chapter 2016 decision, a course combined with a retreat on Psycho-Spiritual Integration was arranged on May 25-29 and June 1-5. There were fifty participants.
It was indeed a unique experience for most of the participants. The retreat presenter, Rev. Fr. KC Thomas Sdb, brought the participants to a new awareness of the connection between body, mind, and spirit and how each is interrelated with the whole person.

Thanksgiving Mass
24.11: November 24th, 2018 was a memorable day in the history of the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ, St. Mary Province, Bangalore, as we celebrated the Thanksgiving Mass in honour of the canonization of our foundress, St. Katharina Kasper in our parish church. Rt. Rev. Bishop Emeritus Bernard Moras solicited the Eucharist Concelebrated by Rt. Rev. Bishop Jose Porunnedom the bishop of Mananthavady Syro- Malabar diocese, our Parish Priest John Abraham, along with many priests.

Canonization of Blessed Catherine Kasper
For the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ, the canonization of our Foundress, Saint Katharina Kasper, is a confirmation of what we have always known and treasured about her life and holiness. Our gratitude stems from the recognition of the universal Church that God’s goodness is manifested in her, so that we might share her witness of gospel living with the world. This simple but deeply spiritual peasant woman was canonized on Oct. 14 in St. Peter’s Square in Rome, Italy, along with six other holy men and women of great charity.

Rev. Dr. Bernard Moras the Archbishop of Bangalore.

Silver ruby and Golden Jubilee celebration
On May 12th, 2018 the Seva Nilaya chapel in Bangalore was filled with the sounds of jubilation, praise, and thanksgiving as our Jubilarians Sisters Alois, Vincent, Suso celebrating 50, Sisters Anita, Lena, Vimala and Pauli 40, and Sr Jebamalai 25 years of religious profession. The main celebrant Rev. Fr. Sahaya John director of NBCLC (National Biblical and Catechetical Centre) began the solemn celebration of the Eucharist with a note of appreciation to the Jubilarians for their life of commitment through which they added joy to the community, witness values to the society and holiness of the Church. GPPR 2018
The General, Provincial and Pro Regional leadership meeting of our Congregation was held in Dernbach, Germany from September 24 - 30, 2018 with the theme, “I am the Door.” There were around 50 members representing from six Provinces and four Pro Regions.
