Amidst the COVID-19 pandemic around the world, on August 15 th the foundation
day of our Congregation our second year novices Anitha Crasta, and Sujatha
Arulappa celebrated their first profession of vows during the Holy Mass celebrated
by Fr. Rev. Fr. Naveen Saldanha OP, Provincial of The Dominicans. The vows
were received by Sr. Flora PHJC, the Provincial Superior of the Poor Handmaids
of Jesus Christ, St. Mary’s Province, Bangalore. The liturgy and ceremony of
profession was held in the Novitiate House Chapel, Gyan Deepthi, 295 Kothanur,
Daa Thimmarayappa Layout, Bangalore.
In his homily the celebrant spoke of Jesus calling insignificant people in the eyes
of the world for a significant purpose. This purpose is to make a positive change in
the lives of the people we live with and those we serve. For this, one has to be
filled with the spirit of Jesus. He also challenged the novices to live Gospel lives
which can involve hardship and risk.
Due to the pandemic it was not possible to invite PHJC Sisters from different
communities, religious sisters, families or friends of the newly professed.
A short felicitation and agape meal followed the holy Eucharist. We congratulate
our Sisters and assure them that we pray they find joy and fulfillment in giving
themselves to the service of God and His Church in the Congregation of the Poor
Handmaids of Jesus Christ.
