Today, 25th November 2019, marks an important day for Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ in India as we celebrated a twin event: the opening of the Golden
Jubilee year of PHJC presence in India and the Perpetual Profession of our sisters, Sr. Jansi Mary and Sr. Suganya. The celebration took place in our chapel
at Seva Nilaya, 38/4 Davis Road, Bangalore.
Sr. Flora PHJC, our Provincial Superior, in her introduction at the start of the Holy Mass welcomed the gathering and spoke about the importance of the
day and the pivotal role played by the pioneer sisters who sowed the seed of PHJC mission untiringly through their missionary zeal and commitment.
She specially welcomed the parents of the sisters, who are going to make their Perpetual Profession today, and expressed her appreciation for them for
bringing them up in Christian faith and values, and asked them to continue to support their daughters with their prayers as they go ahead in religious life.
Most Rev. Dr. Bernard Moras, Emeritus Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Bangalore officiated at the Solemn Eucharist along with other priests.
Archbishop Bernard Moras in his homily expressed his happiness over being present for the occasion and congratulated PHJC sisters for their service
to the poor and needy in this great land, and Sr. Jansi Mary and Suganya for their readiness in answering to the call to Christ in the Lord’s service.
He emphasized the importance of living the evangelical councils credibly without any compromise and to bear witness to Christ joyfully in the service
of the poor and marginalized.
Sister Flora PHJC, the Provincial Superior, accepted their vows. The parents and relatives of the sisters and a large number of the PHJC community
participated in the solemn celebration.
At the brief gathering that followed the Holy Mass, the Provincial Superior officially opened the Golden Jubilee year of the PHJC presence in India which was followed by a lamp lightning ceremony. The presence of Sr. Christeta Hess PHJC from MariaHilf Province Germany who has been a great benefactor and support for the PHJCs in India doubled the joy of the celebration.
Parents, relatives and invited guests enjoyed the agape meal with the PHJC family. It was indeed a memorable day for all.
